A trucker was so shocked about his lottery win that the cashier asked if he “needed an ambulance” at a truck stop in Kentucky recently.
Truck driver Tommy Hinton made a stop at the Pilot Travel Center on Free Henry Ford Road in Madisonville, Kentucky as part of his normal workday routine when he decided to buy a $10 “100x The Cash” Kentucky Lottery Scratch-off.
When Hinton scratched the ticket and revealed his $225,000 win, even the cashier noticed something about him had changed.
“The clerk asked me if I was okay and if I needed an ambulance,” Hinton said to TriStateHomepage. “I said, ‘no’ and then showed her the amount on the machine. Her eyes popped out and were big as saucers.”
After taxes, Hinton collected a total of $162,000. He says he plans to use the funds to pay off bills, complete some renovations, and donate to his church.
“I plan to act like I don’t have it,” he said. “I’m blessed.”
The Pilot Travel Center will also receive $2,250 for selling the winning ticket.
