CHP investigating “suspicious” death of man found lying near semi truck stopped on shoulder

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a man found lying in the roadway near a semi truck parked on the shoulder of Highway 166. 

The man was found around noon on Sunday, December 29th on the eastbound shoulder of Highway 166 between Old River Road and Interstate 5 near Bakersfield, California. 

According to KGET News, police were called to the area on reports of a tractor trailer stopped on the westbound shoulder since the night before. When officers arrived to investigate, they discovered a man lying dead across the road from the stopped semi truck. 

Investigators closed an eight mile stretch of Highway 166 to investigate the incident. Officers are calling the death “suspicious.”
