CHP nabs commercial vehicle driver for 55 MPH in a 3 MPH zone in inspection facility

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is reminding commercial vehicle drivers to obey all signage in inspection facilities after a recent speed incident.

The incident that occurred at 4:20 p.m. on October 22 at the Grapevine Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility located in Kern County, California.

CHP shared a photo of a citation issued to a commercial vehicle driver for unsafe speed in the scale inspection area. Specifically, the citation put the vehicle speed at 55 m.p.h., in violation of the in-facility speed limit of 3 m.p.h. for loaded trucks.

“Just a friendly reminder to our commercial drivers: remember to obey all black & white regulatory signs posted in our inspection facilities throughout the state. The speed limit signs are no exception to this rule. Remember: 5 m.p.h. (empty) & 3 m.p.h. (loaded),” CHP said.
