A portion of Interstate 75 was shut down early on Friday morning after a semi truck crashed into a bridge, causing several small explosions.
The accident happened on August 30th in Cobb County, Georgia on I-75 near Delk Road.
According to Fox5 Atlanta, a semi truck hauling 80 barrels of brake fluid crashed into a bridge on the interstate, causing several of the barrels to leak. The truck then caught fire, causing “leaking, burning,” and “exploding” of the barrels.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the flames and contain the hazardous material spill, forcing a partial shut down of I-75. Traffic was diverted off of I-75 at Delk Road for a time as crews worked to clear the wreckage.
As of 7:30 a.m. the express lane was open for traffic to bypass the wreck, but traffic delays were still present.
