Interstate 165 will be partially closed through next week after a semi truck spilled containers of molten aluminum all over the roadway.
The accident happened on June 27th in Daviess County, Kentucky on I-165 at the Fairview Drive overpass.
According to TriStateHomepage, the tractor trailer lost its load of molten aluminum in the northbound lanes of I-165, making the roadway nearly impassable. The cause of the crash has not been released. The truck driver was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
Crews are working to clear the containers that held the aluminum. Once cleared, road crews will scrape up the aluminum and lay down a base to allow traffic to flow. The road will be rough, but the temporary fix will allow for the roadway to be partially opened.
The road will be repaved next week and is expected to take about two days.
