Commercial vehicle travel ban ordered on Colorado roadways

A major winter storm has forced Colorado transportation officials to issue commercial vehicle travel restrictions on several roads.

On Friday afternoon, the Colorado State Patrol (CSP) that commercial vehicle travel restrictions are in place between 4 p.m. Friday, November 8 and 8 a.m. Saturday, November 9, due to projected extreme weather impacts.

The commercial vehicle travel ban is effective for the following roadways:

  • I-70 Both Directions from Mile Post 259 (Golden) and Mile Post 205 (Silverthorne)
  • I-25 Both Directions from Mile Post 180 (South of Plum Creek Pkwy) to Mile post 180 (N. Acadamy Blvd)
  • US 285 Both Directions from Mile Post 250 (Morrison) to Mile Post 184 (Fairplay)
  • US 40 Berthoud Pass Both Directions Mile Post 234 (Winter Park) to 256 (Empire)
  • US 6 Loveland Pass Mile Post 217 (Keystone) to Mile Post 229 (Georgetown)

CSP also issued a notice about emergency truck parking availability due to the weather.

At 1:26 p.m. on November 8, CSP said, “The I-25 Safety Closure south of Pueblo will remain in place due to heavy snowfall and unsafe conditions. Semi parking has been established at the old dog track off Pueblo Blvd and Lake Ave with overflow parking at the Pueblo Mall (southeast section). Currently there are over 200 semis parked between the various locations and truck stops, but there is room for more.”
