A man was killed when his concrete truck fell off an overpass in Houston during Tuesday morning rush hour.
The accident happened on December 10th on the Sam Houston Tollway where it crosses over Beltway 8 just before 9 a.m.
According to ABC 13, the concrete truck collided with a meal delivery truck on the Sam Houston Tollway. The force of the impact shoved the concrete truck off of the overpass and it landed on Beltway 8 below.
The driver of the concrete truck was killed in the accident, and the meal delivery truck driver sustained critical injuries. A woman in a sedan was also hurt when a surveillance camera pole fell on her car as a result of the wreck.
The delivery driver is expected to survive. The sedan driver suffered a concussion and is also expected to recover.
“Falling off of the overpass is insane,” said a woman who witnessed the crash. “I was in my car listening to music — the music was loud, so I don’t know how I heard it over my loud music, but it was like if you’ve ever heard a car accident, but that times three, and like 10 seconds longer. It was just like something falling, basically,” she said to KHOU11.
Investigators say they do not yet know what caused the initial collision on the overpass. No further details have been released.
