A couple found passed out inside of a pickup truck at a truck stop were arrested after police discovered heroin and other drugs beneath their seats.
The incident happened late last week on Thursday, May 30th at the Shelby County Pilot truck stop in Simpsonville, Kentucky.
According to Mountain Top Media, people at the truck stop flagged down a passing police officer after noticing a couple passed out inside of a pickup truck cab at the truck stop. The officer approached the pickup and was able to wake 24-year-old Alyssa Fields, but not 33-year-old Corey Gamble. Gamble was eventually roused and the officer decided to search the vehicle based on the occupants’ actions, and potential evidence he could see from outside the vehicle.
An officer with a drug dog was called, and the k9 officer quickly alerted to the possible presence of drugs. The officers searched the cab and discovered a large but unspecified amount of heroin under the passenger seat and a small amount of meth underneath Fields’ legs. A digital scale, a gun, and multiple glass pipes were also discovered inside of the vehicle.
Field and Gamble were placed under arrest and charged with trafficking in heroin and possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.
