Damaged covered bridge blamed on box truck driver previously placed out of serviceĀ

Published:

A damaged covered bridge was traced back to a box truck driver who drove away from the scene.

The incident happened on February 8th before noon in Lyndonville, Connecticut at the Millerā€™s Run Covered Bridge.

The Lyndonville Police Report states that 23-year-old Sereign M. Diop drove a yellow box truck through the covered bridge, causing damage to the structure. Diop then drove away from the scene. Officers later found him on Lynburke Road near Calendar Brook Road and cited him for leaving the scene of an accident.Ā

Further investigation into the incident showed that Diop had already been placed out of service earlier in the day by the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicle Enforcement & Safety. It is not clear what led to the OOS order.

Diop was also issued town ordinance violations for being overweight and over height on the bridge, and his truck was towed away from the scene.
