Dash cam shows big rig striking attenuator truck on New York State Thruway

The New York State (NYS) Thruway Authority is asking drivers to slow down and move over following a serious crash involving an attenuator truck.

Officials said when they released the video on December 3 that the crash occurred two weeks ago in Buffalo, New York.

A tractor trailer traveling on the Niagara Thruway (I-190) struck an attenuator truck that was in place to protect crews working on the roadway. No injuries were reported.

“The truck failed to move over despite passing two Thruway vehicles and signs warning of the work zone and lane closure ahead,” the NYS Thruway Authority said. “There is no excuse. When you see flashing lights, work zone signs or reflective gear – SLOW DOWN and MOVE OVER if safe. Lives depend on it.”
