Dozens of truck drivers to be laid off as Wisconsin trucking company closes permanently

Published:

A trucking company headquartered in Wisconsin told state labor officials that they will close their doors permanently by the end of the year.

On October 30, Medford, Wisconsin-based J. Bauer Trucking Inc. informed the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development of plans to close the business.

J. Bauer Trucking told the state that the layoffs will occur December 31, 2024, and that a complete company closure will occur that same day.

A total of 64 employees are to be laid off on December 31. Of those, 41 are truck drivers.

The company says that there are no bumping or transfer rights to other jobs or locations and that none of the affected employees are represented by a collective bargaining representative.

J. Bauer Trucking was founded in 1973 and provides over-the-road trucking services to customers regionally in the upper midwest with routes in 47 states.
