Driver arrested after dropping migrants off at checkpoint entrance

Published:

A truck driver was arrested at the Interstate 35 checkpoint after dropping off a group of migrants at the entrance.

The incident happened at about 8:35 p.m. on August 30th at the I-35 checkpoint in Texas.

According to Laredo Morning Times, truck driver Warren Shaundell Magee was spotted dropping off between 10 and 15 people at the checkpoint entrance by another driver, who reported what he saw to border patrol agents.

Agents then located Magee standing outside of his tractor trailer by the east access gates of the border checkpoint. Agents noticed considerable damage to a nearby light pole, and Mageee explained that he had gotten stuck on the dirt road, which led to the damage on the light pole.

When agents asked about why he had gotten stuck on the road, Magree did not respond, and agents soon discovered sweat-covered clothing in the back of his truck cab. Six migrants were then apprehended near the site of the minor crash, and eight more were found on a nearby ranch at about 3 a.m.

Magee was arrested and declined to make a statement without an attorney present.
