Driver arrested for “fishy” job in stolen semi truck

A truck driver was arrested earlier this week after a “fishy” job led to a semi truck reported stolen.

The incident occurred on July 8th in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania.

According to WTAJ, 43-year-old John Gonzalez picked up a bobtail semi truck near Interstate 80 mile marker 85 and began driving to Ohio to pick up a trailer. Police then received calls of a stolen bobtail semi truck, and headed to the area where Gonzalez picked up the truck. Officers then spotted Gonzales pulling off of I-80 and into a Sheetz parking lot in Falls Creek in the same rig that was reported stolen.

When officers approached Gonzalez, he told them that he had picked up the commercial vehicle as part of a job, and was on his way to pick up a trailer in Ohio. Gonzalez did admit to police that the circumstances of the job did seem “fishy” to him, but that he needed the money, so he took it anyway.

Officers then arrested Gonzalez and charged him with receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He has since been arraigned and placed in Clearfield County Prison on $75,000 bail.
