Driver fatally ejected after ignoring stop sign in crash with second rig

Published:

A truck driver is dead after failing to stop at a stop sign, leading to a serious crash with another tractor trailer in Illinois on Tuesday morning.

The accident happened on Tuesday, October 29th at around 8 a.m. at the intersection of Miller Road and Illinois Route 31 in West Dundee, Illinois.

According to NBC Chicago, a Freightliner semi truck traveling east on Miller Road failed to stop at a stop sign, causing a collision with a Mack truck, which had the right of way. The driver of the Freightliner was not wearing a seatbelt, and was ejected from the truck cab as a result of the crash.

The Freightliner driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The Mack truck driver was taken to a nearby hospital with “critical injuries.”

“The driver and the Freightliner semi, which was hauling sand, rolled and came to a final stop to the north shoulder of the roadway on Illinois Route 31,” the Kane County Sheriff’s office said in a release. “The Mack semi, which contained enclosed cargo, exited the roadway and was located in a field to the east of Illinois Route 31.”

The deceased driver has not been publicly identified. No further information has been released.
