DUI truck driver’s brake blunder led to fire and tire explosions, cops say

California police arrested a truck driver following a truck fire and explosion in Tracy on Wednesday.

According to the Tracy Police Department (TPD), officers responded to a reported explosion at the 400 block of Gandy Dancer Drive in Tracy, California, shortly before 4 a.m. on July 17.

When TPD arrived at the scene, they located 35 year old Daniel Jaime nearby, “who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.”

“Through the investigation, officers were able to determine that the explosion was caused by Jaime driving with the truck’s emergency brake on, leading to it catching on fire and the tires of the truck exploding,” TPD said.

Police administered field sobriety and Breathalyzer tests and determined that Jaime was intoxicated. He was arrested and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.
