The Wyoming Department of Transportation is warning commercial truck drivers of high winds in central Wyoming starting Wednesday.
A significant High Wind Event and Extreme Blow-Over Risk will impact much of Wyoming on Wednesday into Thursday,” WYDOT wrote in a post on Facebook. “Areas of slick roads, black ice and blowing snow for a few locations as well through tonight.”
Winds as high as 70 mph are expected in central Wyoming starting Wednesday morning, December 18th and lasting until the early morning hours of Thursday, December 19th in some areas.
Interstate 80 will likely see crosswinds of 70 mph or more on Wednesday morning along from Cheyenne to Laramie to Rawlins through about 10 a.m. on Thursday morning. Wednesday night will see winds of 55 mph or more on I-80 from the northeast state line to Cheyenne.
Interstate 25 will likely see crosswinds of 70 mph or more on Wednesday morning through early morning Thursday from Cheyenne to Douglas. Wednesday afternoon will see crosswinds of about 55 mph from Douglas to Buffalo. On Wednesday night I-25 will likely see crosswinds of 70 mph or more from the Colorado state line to Cheyenne.
Wednesday afternoon will also see crosswinds of 60 and 70 mph on Highway 258 Outer Drive and WY 28 South Pass through the evening.
Interstate 90 from Buffalo to Sheridan will also experience 55 mph crosswinds for a brief period on Wednesday evening.
