Family-run trucking company ceases operations after 76 years, per reports

Published:

An Ontario-based cross-border trucking company ceased operations last month, according to reports.

Thunder Bay-headquartered company McKevitt Trucking officially ended operations on October 31, 2024, according to local news outlet TBNewsWatch.

Northern Ontario Business also confirmed the closure.

The company described itself as “Family owned and operated since 1948” and at one point operated a fleet of 165 trucks and 450 trailers, including temperature-controlled, dry vans, flat deck, and step deck trailers.

Prior to the closure, McKevitt offered daily LTL and truckload services out of Northern and Southern Ontario as well as service into the U.S. from terminal points in Thunder Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Mississauga, Sudbury, Timmins, and North Bay.

“Our family worked their way from a one truck operation, to one of the largest Canada/USA carriers in Northern Ontario,” the company website stated. The website is now shut down.
