Female truck driver arrested after crashing while fleeing scene of first wreck

A truck driver was arrested on Wednesday morning after fleeing the scene of one wreck and then getting into another. 

The accidents occurred on August 28th in Harrison and Lewis Counties in West Virginia. 

According to WBOY12, the first accident involved five vehicles on US Route 50 on top of Bridgeport Hill, including the tractor trailer that quickly fled the scene at about 7:30 a.m.

Officers then chased the semi truck along Interstate 79, off the interstate through Quiet Dell, and onto a dead end street. Officers then tried to open the door of the truck cab and stop the rig before the driver made it back onto I-79 and continued the chase. The pursuit ended when the driver crashed at exit 99 near the Weston exit at about 8:05 a.m., reported WDTV5.

The female truck driver was placed under arrest and taken to a nearby hospital. The extent of her injuries is not known. Information on possible charges against her has not been released

The incident caused backups on Route 50 and I-79 for hours.
