Three people were hurt in a chain reaction crash on the Massachusetts Turnpike on Monday afternoon.
The accident occurred just after 3 p.m. on the Massachusetts Turnpike at mile marker 85 7 miles east of Interstate 84 in Charlton, Massachusetts.
According to WCVB News, a flatbed semi truck hauling a forklift crashed into a guardrail, causing a tow truck behind it to swerve. The Jeep being hauled by the tow truck fell into the road, causing another tractor trailer to swerve and collide with a box truck.
About a mile down the road, a bobtail semi truck crashed into the back of a car stopped in traffic caused by the initial series of crashes. The bobtail truck pushed the car into the back of another tractor trailer, crushing it.
No one was hurt in the initial series of crashes, but the driver and two juveniles in the car sandwiched between the bobtail and tractor trailer were seriously hurt. The driver was flown to a nearby hospital, while the two juveniles were transported by ambulance.
The chain reaction incident is still under investigation.
