This week, Forward Air and Omni Logistics announced that a company merger is complete.
On January 25, both companies issued statements to announce that the acquisition of Dallas, Texas-based Omni Logistics by Greenville, Tennessee-headquartered Forward Air was successfully completed.
Forward Air says that the acquisition will create “a category leader in the expedited LTL market.”
“Upon closing of the transaction, the combined company will be well-positioned to become the premier global, integrated provider of comprehensive LTL services and generate significant value for shareholders, customers, and employees,” Omni said in a press release.
The companies announced plans to merge in August 2023.
JJ Schickel, CEO of Omni and incoming President of Forward Air, said, “Combining with Forward Air creates an unparalleled opportunity to reshape the industry and become the best possible strategic partner to our customers. We are excited to hit the ground running with the Forward Air team, with whom we have worked closely for decades, and look forward to capitalizing on the significant value creation opportunity ahead of us.”
Tom Schmitt, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Forward, said, “This is an exciting day for Forward and we are pleased to welcome the Omni team to the Forward family. Together, we are now uniquely positioned to be the premier provider of choice in high-quality freight transportation to a larger customer base with an expanded domestic footprint.”
Schmitt continued, “One of the defining characteristics of our corporate culture is that we do not wait around for good things to happen, we go out and make them happen. We are approaching this important next phase with a sense of urgency and are committed to delivering on a clear and measurable plan designed to meet the needs of our customers, create opportunities for our teammates, and generate long-term value for our shareholders.”
