Georgia officials are urgently seeking information on the death of a man ran over by a semi truck back in the spring.
The incident occurred on February 7th at about 4:05 a.m. on Interstate 75 at mile marker 54 in Tift County, Georgia.
According to the Georgia Department of Public Safety, dash cam footage from the tractor trailer involved in the incident shows the unidentified man stepping out from behind a car parked on the shoulder of the interstate and into the path of the oncoming rig.
Officers were called to the scene, but the car was gone before they arrived. The Georgia State Patrol says that they have since exhausted all leads and have been unsuccessful in identifying the car or man killed in the incident.
The unidentified deceased person is a white man with a small build in his mid 30s to early 40s with dark hair and a beard. He was missing his right arm below the elbow at the time of the incident, and was wearing a dark colored University of Indiana hoodie when he was hit. He was also wearing a necklace with a shield and a cross with a Bible verse on the back.
“No detail is too small, and any information could significantly contribute in bringing closure to this investigation and connecting the male with his loved ones,” the Georgia DPS wrote in a statement.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash, has information about the victim, or has seen the vehicle in question is asked to call the GSP Post 13 at 229-386-3226.
