Idaho Transportation Dept. closes runaway truck ramp for repairs

Published:

This week, the Idaho Transportation Department (IDT) closed a runaway truck ramp for repaving and improvements to increase safety.

Starting on October 15, officials closed a runaway truck ramp located at the bottom of the Lewiston Grade on U.S. Highway 95.

Commercial vehicle drivers are advised that this is ramp number 4, and they should use one of the other 5 ramps in the area if they experience brake issues.

As part of this project, southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane for approximately 3 weeks.

Crews will repave the entrance to the ramp and add up to 1600 feet of new gravel.

IDT says that the cost of the project is $385,000.
