Jarring dashcam shows truck plummeting down embankment after car’s sudden stop for deer

No one was hurt in this jarring dashcam video showing the result of a car’s sudden stop after colliding with a deer.

The accident happened on Highway 11 near the Highway 654 exit in Callander, Ontario, Canada.

The Ontario Provincial Police reports that the car stopped in the lane of traffic after hitting a deer because the collision caused their hood to fly up, obstructing their view. The commercial vehicle could not stop in time to avoid hitting the car, and pulled the horn before trying to thread the needle to the left between the stopped car and another vehicle in the left lane, but ended up skidding off the road.

The dash cam then shows the truck plunging off the road and seemingly down an embankment.

“Fortunately, nobody was injured!” officers wrote in a Facebook post.

In the comment section on the post, many viewers appear to blame the truck driver for not paying enough attention to the road, and for veering left instead of right. It is unclear if anyone was cited for the incident.
