Livestock hauler’s misjudged turn ends in dozens of cattle deaths

Published:

Dozens of cows are dead after a livestock hauler overturned on an overpass outside of Dallas on Monday night.

The accident happened on September 16th just before 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of the Interstate 30 frontage road and the Baird Farm Road overpass in Arlington, Texas.

According to the Fort-Worth Star Telegram, the truck driver misjudged how soon the intersection was coming up when he ended up turning suddenly, causing the rollover.

The truck driver was not hurt in the crash, but between 40 and 45 of the 80 cows being transported died in the accident, including one that escaped the trailer and was subsequently struck by another vehicle.

Roadways in the area were shut down for most of the night as crews worked to clear the wreckage. The surviving animals were reloaded onto a trailer. No further information has been released.
