Louisiana troopers use truck simulator to teach high school students about commercial vehicle safety

The Louisiana State Police (LSP) recently held a commercial vehicle safety event at a high school in order to teach students how to share the road with semi trucks.

The “Safe Drive Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV)” event was held on November 20, 2024, at Opelousas High School located in Opelousas, Louisiana.

The purpose of the event was to teach students how to drive safely around large commercial vehicles.

In order to provide a hands-on experience, LSP brought a full-sized CMV simulator trailer to the event so students could get a feel for what it’s like to drive a semi truck.

LSP teamed up with South Louisiana Community College, L&B Transport LLC, and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for the safety event.
