Man caught smuggling drugs inside Buc-ee’s plushies

Published:

A man has a warrant out for his arrest after being caught smuggling drugs inside of Buc-ee’s stuffed animals in Texas this week.

The crime was discovered at around 1 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31st in Fayette County, Texas along Interstate 10.

According to Austin American-Statesman, an officer pulled over a four wheeler for a traffic infraction and was conducting the traffic stop when he recognized the smell of marijuana coming from the car. The motorist then consented to a search of the car, and the officer traced the source of the odor to a collection of Buc-ee’s beaver plushies sitting in the backseat.

Upon investigating the stuffed animals, the officer noticed that they had been restitched, and felt packages stuffed inside of the toys. The plushies were then cut open to reveal packages of marijuana and ecstasy hidden inside.

The motorist, 47-year-old Lugene Davis Jr., then claimed to be experiencing chest pain and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Two pounds of marijuana was seized from the vehicle, and a warrant has been issued for Davis’ arrest.
