Man runs over Pilot employee after stealing beer

A man was arrested in New York on Friday after running over a truck stop employee while fleeing with stolen beer.

The incident occurred on August 16th at the 7th North Street Pilot truck stop in Salina, New York just before midnight. 

According to Local Syr News, 50-year-old Charles McGee stole beer from the store and was followed out by an employee of the truck stop. As McGee put his car in reverse, he struck the employee, knocking them to the ground. 

The employee was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. Officers located McGee’s car in Syracuse a short time later and placed him under arrest. 

During his post-arrest interview, McGee reportedly damaged the wall and a table in the interview room. McGee has since been charged with felony robbery, felony assault, felony criminal possession of a weapon, criminal mischief in the fourth-degree for the damaging of property.
