A large pileup crash occurred on Tuesday morning near New Orleans, Louisiana.
The pileup occurred around 8:30 a.m. on December 17 on the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Bridge.
An estimated 40 to 50 vehicles were involved in a crash on the southbound span of the Causeway Bridge. Images captured at the scene show semi trucks involved in the pileup.
Fox 8 reports 11 people were injured in the pileup.
Heavy fog reduced visibility to about a tenth of a mile when the crash occurred, according to reports.
The crash has closed the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Bridge in both directions.

The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Bridge North remains closed to traffic due to an accident. Motorist are advised to use alternate routes: I-10 East to the Twinspan Bridge or I-10 West to I-55 North.
