An accident police are calling a “massive crash” shut down Highway 85 just outside of Denver in both directions on Thursday.
The accident happened on May 16th on Highway 85 near 104th Avenue in Commerce City, Colorado at around 11:30 a.m.
According to CBS News, the “massive crash” involved a semi truck, a dump truck, and multiple cars, and was a hit-and-run incident.
The accident forced the closure of US 85 in both directions until the southbound lanes reopened just after 1 p.m. Drivers are warned to expect extended closures for the northbound lanes.
Traffic is being diverted around the crash using 104th or Interstate 76. There is no estimated time of reopening for the northbound lanes of Highway 85.
Adams County Sheriff’s Office and the Colorado State Patrol are working to investigate the crash.
