A Michigan State Police (MSP) officer was injured and another driver was killed during a crash that occurred during a roadside traffic stop on a commercial vehicle on Friday morning.
According to MSP, the crash occurred around 8:40 a.m. on Friday, September 13, on I-75 near Dix in Lincoln Park.
“A Motor Carrier Officer (MCO) was out on a traffic stop when their vehicle was struck by another vehicle,” MSP said.
The MCO officer was inside the cruiser with seatbelt fastened when the cruiser was struck by a Ford Explorer.
Images captured at the scene show the MSP police cruiser crumpled and partially wedged under the semi’s trailer.
The MCO required extrication and was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. He was conscious and speaking, according to reports.
The driver of the Explorer died in the crash.
