Rainfall is expected in northern California on Monday after a long weekend of closures and backups on Interstate 80.
Interstate 80 and highway 50 in the Sierras experienced intermittent shutdowns on Saturday, December 14th as traffic continuously spun out in the snowy conditions. Sunday saw fog and frost in the area, but chain controls were lifted for Interstate 80 and Highway 50 by 5 p.m. December 15th.
After a long morning in the Sierra today, traffic is again at a standstill on EB I-80 beginning at Castle Peak due to multiple spinouts over Donner Summit. Chain controls on all Sierra highways. Expect long delays. https://t.co/X5OiS6OEtB pic.twitter.com/25pc1lJCZh
