Motorist dead after striking parked semi truck at Missouri rest area

Published:

A motorist was killed after colliding with a parked semi truck at a rest area in Montgomery County, Missouri, on Monday.

The crash occurred shortly before 6 a.m. on July 15 at a rest stop located on westbound I-70 near mile marker 170.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 18 year old Virginia resident Xavier Carpenter was driving a 2010 Mercedes Benz west on I-70 when he veered off the left side of the interstate and struck median posts.

Carpenter overcorrected, swerved right, and went off the right side of I-70, crashing through a ditch, going airborne, and entering the rest area.

Troopers say that the Mercedes Benz collided with a parked semi truck at the rest area.

Carpenter died in the crash.

The semi truck was not occupied when the crash occurred.
