Motorist’s “excessively fast rate of speed” causes fatal wreck under tractor trailer

One person died in a fatal wreck caused by excessive speed on a Florida highway on Tuesday. 

The accident happened on August 13th just before 11:30 a.m. on the Florida Turnpike south of the Boynton Beach exit in southern Palm Beach County, Florida. 

According to Fox 29, a motorist in a Mercedes C63 “was traveling at an excessively fast rate of speed,” causing them to lose control of the vehicle. The car then crashed into the back of a commercial vehicle and ended up underneath the trailer. 

The motorist was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released. The truck driver was transported to a hospital with “non-incapacitating” injuries. 

The crash caused significant delays through Tuesday afternoon. No further information has been released.
