Murder suspect bails off overpass in front of semi truck

A murder suspect tried evading police by jumping off an overpass in front of an oncoming semi truck in Florida on Wednesday night. 

The incident occurred on October 16th in Tampa, Florida on Interstate 275. 

According to ABC Action News, officers first responded to reports of a stabbing at an apartment complex and found a woman with serious injuries. After seeking care for the woman, officers pursued the suspect, 31-year-old Thomas Sapp, and eventually found him driving his car the following morning. 

Officers attempted to confront Sapp on County Line Road over I-275 by stopping traffic, but Sapp soon exited his car and jumped off the overpass. Sapp landed on the highway below, nearly landing in the path of an oncoming semi truck. 

Sapp was injured in the incident and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officers say he will face charges for attempted murder.
