A Texas man is facing multiple charges after New Jersey police found hundreds of pounds of marijuana on his truck during a weigh station search.
On January 23, 2024, prosecutors announced that 42 year old Ian Munringayi has been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, and hindering prosecution or apprehension.
Authorities say that a commercial vehicle search was conducted on Munringayi’s box truck at the Knowlton weigh station located off I-80 in Warren County, New Jersey.
The box truck was en-route from Chicago to The Bronx, New York, when it stopped at the weigh station.
Police obtained permission to search the truck and discovered 301 pounds of marijuana in the cargo area of the vehicle.
Prosecutors say that Munringayi also presented police with a fake international driver’s license.
Warren County Prosecutor James Pfeiffer says that the first degree possession of marijuana with intent to distribute charge carries a maximum sentence of twenty years.
