New York police are reminding commercial vehicle drivers that “an overweight permit can save you thousands” following a recent traffic stop in Rye.
At 9 a.m. on August 13, the City of Rye Police Department pulled over a cement mixer for a minor equipment violation.
During the traffic stop, police discovered that “the truck was found to be loaded with 10 yards of concrete without an overweight permit. The vehicle was 18,500 lbs. overweight.”
The company that owns the truck was issued four summonses.
The truck was towed from the scene.
“The City of Rye Police Department reminds all operators of commercial vehicles to abide by the Vehicle and Traffic Law. An overweight permit can save you thousands!” police said.
