NorCal, Oregon to see wintry conditions starting Tuesday

Northern California near the Oregon border is slated to see snow and rain Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. 

The Northern Sacramento Valley, including Redding, California, is expected to receive 6 to 8 inches of rain starting on Tuesday, November 19th. The rain and snow is expected to continue through the weekend. 

A winter storm warning has been issued for the mountains and foothills of Shasta County through Wednesday night. Between 8 and 18 inches of snow are expected above 4,500 feet elevation, and 4 to 8 inches expected above 3,000 feet, reported Record Searchlight.

Wind gusts as high as 70 mph could be seen in the Shasta Valley through Wednesday night. 

Chris Woodward, spokesman for the California Department of Transportation, suggests that all drivers carry chains if looking to travel on Interstate 5. Woodward also says that Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol may screen motorists for chains 10 miles north of Redding on Interstate 5 at the Fawndale exit. 

There is also a chance Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol will screen motorists for chains 10 miles north of Redding on I-5 at the Fawndale exit, Woodward said.
