Overturned semi truck stumps first responders, commuters during winter weather in Houston

An overturned semi truck in Houston caused issues for commuters and first responders during a bout of winter weather on Monday morning.

The accident happened on January 15th outside of Houston in Brookshire, Texas just after 8:30 a.m. near FM 359 in Waller County.

According to KHOU 11, the overturned rig forced the closure of the I-10 Katy Freeway in both directions during unusual below-freezing temperatures in the area.

Crews attempted to use heavy machinery to right the rig but attempts were apparently unsuccessful, and only damaged the rig.

Commuters were advised to use 11th Street or Highway 90 as an alternate route. Weather conditions in Houston are expected to remain icy through Wednesday morning, reported Click 2 Houston.
