Penn. Ave truck-eating bridge deemed “cultural landmark”

Published:

An infamous bridge in Michigan was temporarily crowned a “cultural landmark” on one of the top GPS platforms.

The bridge on South Pennsylvania Avenue, which is infamous for shearing off the tops of tractor trailers when drivers aren’t paying attention to clearance height, is in Lansing, Michigan. The most recent incident occurred on the evening of July 22nd, when a commercial vehicle tried to pass beneath the 12 foot structure.

Now, the bridge can add “cultural landmark” to its list of nicknames like “Penny,” and “The Barber,” with the addition of a ‘cultural landmark’ label on Google Maps. The bridge’s name was also listed as “Truck Eating Bridge,” reported WILX 10.

As of Wednesday morning, google seems to have changed the name back to it’s official form, but not before the internet noticed.
