Pileup crash shuts down I-70 in eastern Missouri

Published:

A pileup crash has shut down a portion of I-70 in Warren County, Missouri.

The pileup occurred on the afternoon of Friday, February 16, on westbound I-70 west of Warrenton, Missouri.

The Warren County Emergency Management Agency says that “there are numerous motor vehicle collisions reported on state, county, and municipal roadways. At least three collisions on I-70 have been described as “pile-ups.””

It isn’t yet clear how many vehicles are involved or whether anyone was injured.

Westbound I-70 is closed between Wright City and Warrenton.

“If you are not already on the road, and do not absolutely, positively have to be on the road, please stay off the roads. All roadways – ALL of them – should be considered dangerous. If you are on the road, and traffic is at a standstill, be prepared to wait. The number of people needing a tow truck right now exceeds the number of tow trucks available,” Warren County officials said around 3 p.m. on Friday.

A winter weather advisory was in place in Warren County on Friday. The area has seen more than 5 inches of snowfall on Friday, according to the Warren County Record.
