Troopers in multiple states are taking part in a traffic crackdown on I-81 this week.
Operation DISS-rupt will take place along the I-81 corridor in Virginia, Tennessee, and West Virginia on September 19 and September 20.
Virginia State Police (VSP) will team up with the Tennessee Highway Patrol and the West Virginia State Police for the 48 hour enforcement effort.
According to VSP, the goal of Operation DISS-rupt is to achieve zero traffic fatalities during the enforcement period and to reduct the total number of I-81 crashes by 10% for the calendar year.
Police will also be providing information to the public about traffic safety during Operation DISS-rupt.
DISS-rupt stands for Distracted driving, Impaired driving, Speed compliance and Seat belt safety.
