A police pursuit of teenagers ended in a dramatic crash with a semi truck in Los Angeles on Sunday evening.
The incident occurred on February 18th in Los Angeles, California at around 10:45 p.m. on the southbound 605 Freeway.
It is unclear how the pursuit began, but officers pursued the white BMW SUV with six teenagers inside, including one 12-year-old, until the car exited the freeway, reported KTLA.
“The vehicle exited the freeway, CHP vehicles stopped pursuing [and an] airship took over around 11:10 p.m.,” a CHP spokesperson said.
The SUV then ran multiple red lights and nearly crashed into several other cars before colliding with a semi truck near Figueroa Street and Slauson Avenue. The force of the impact sent the car smashing into a nearby chain link fence.
The truck driver was not hurt in the accident, but the car driver and one of their passengers were transported to a hospital for evaluation.
Four other occupants inside of the SUV were placed under arrest, but their ages and identities have not been released.
