Police seek semi truck driver who fatally struck fellow trucker in Tennessee Pilot parking lot

Police are trying to locate a semi truck driver who they say fatally struck a fellow trucker in a Tennessee Pilot parking lot on Friday evening.

Officers responded to the scene around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, January 12, at a Pilot Travel Center in White Pine, Tennessee, according to the White Pine Police Department (WPPD).

When police arrived, they found Alabama-based truck driver Gary M. Clark, 64, deceased in the Pilot parking lot.

From WPPD:

[Clark] parked his tractor-trailer in the trucking parking lot in the rear of Pilot Travel Center located on Roy Messer Hwy. He exited his truck and was walking toward the travel center near the fuel island when another tractor-trailer, running him over, was traveling through the parking lot and struck Mr. Clark. The truck driver parked his truck at the fuel island and went into the store for approximately twenty minutes. When he made it out to his truck, he was notified by other drivers that he may have possibly run over Mr. Clark. He got back into his truck and drove out of the parking lot.

The investigation is ongoing.

“Please keep Mr. Clark’s family and his company in your prayers,” WPPD said.
