Popular Tennessee truck stop shuttered by fire reopens

A popular Tennessee truck stop that has been closed for years due to a fire recently reopened their doors.

The Tennessean Truck & Travel Stop located off I-65 at Exit 22 in Cornersville, Tennessee, reopened on January 5, 2024, the company announced.

The Tennessean has been closed since July 2021 when an early morning fire caused the ceiling over the restaurant portion of the truck stop to collapse. The fire was started when a worker turned on a broiler. No one was hurt.

In an update provided in fall 2022, ownership said that the rebuilt store would feature new amenities, including a full-service cocktail bar, an ice cream shop with donuts and coffee, and a quick-service deli with pizza, wings, and sandwiches. The Tennessean BBQ restaurant will also reopen with the same recipes but expanded seating and a rooftop deck near the second floor bar.

The Tennessean Truck Stop has been in business since 1974.
