Road debris causes swerve that wrecks three semi trucks on Texas/Louisiana border

Three semi trucks and a car were involved in a wreck caused by debris in the road early on Friday morning.

The accident happened at 1:40 a.m. on Friday, December 20th on Interstate 10 near the Texas/Louisiana state line in Beaumont, Texas.

According to 12 News Now, a tractor trailer was heading west on I-10 when it swerved to avoid a piece of debris in the road, the driver said. The swerve caused a chain reaction crash involving two other semi trucks and one car.

No one was hurt in the crash, but the tractor trailer involved in the incident sustained serious damage. News crews at the scene say the debris mentioned by the first trucker appeared to be a small engine.

As of 9:30 a.m. CST, I-10 was shut down in both directions with no estimated time of reopening. Eastbound traffic is being diverted north via Texas Highway 62 and Texas Highway 87 to eastbound Texas Highway 12. Westbound traffic from Louisiana is being diverted at Louisiana Highway 109 at exit four.
