Two officers were sent to the hospital after a tractor trailer crashed into several police cruisers working a previous incident.
The accident happened on Wednesday morning, November 20th at around 4:50 a.m. in Fulton County near Atlanta, Georgia on Interstate 285 southbound.
According to Atlanta News First, officers were tending to a stalled vehicle on I-285 south at Camp Creek Parkway when a tractor trailer crashed into their patrol vehicles.
“Two East Point Police officers were outside of their vehicle when one officer was struck by their patrol unit. A third officer was sitting inside their vehicle when the tractor-trailer struck the driver’s side of the patrol unit,” GSP officials said in a statement.
A total of three patrol cars were hit. Two officers were transported to a hospital, but the extent of their injuries has not been disclosed.
The truck driver was charged with driving too fast for conditions, violating the Move Over law, a prohibited lane usage.
