A semi truck was severely damaged by fire at a toll plaza in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, early Wednesday morning.
The vehicle fire occurred around 3:20 a.m. at the toll plaza located on I-476 Northbound at the Mid-County Interchange in Plymouth Meeting.
Officials said that a semi truck hauling chicken caught fire in the E-ZPass lane of the Mid-County Toll Plaza.
No injuries were reported.
The fire was under control by 4 a.m.
The cause of the truck fire remains under investigation. Local outlet Fox 29 reports that the truck struck overhead sensors while traveling in the E-ZPass lane, resulting in the vehicle fire.
According to the latest update from the Pennsylvania Turnpike, “I-476 Northbound at Mid County Interchange #20 High Speed EZpass lanes are blocked at this time, the regular Northbound lanes are still open. Keep Right and be alert for slow or stopped traffic.”
