Semi truck reverses out of border inspection as unlicensed truck driver tries to flee

Semi truck reverses out of border inspection as driver attempts to hide the fact that he’s smuggling nine migrants.

The incident occurred on January 22nd at 6:05 p.m. at the Interstate 35 border checkpoint in Texas

According to the Laredo Morning Times, a black tractor trailer driven by Cruz Valdez Alvarez arrived at the border checkpoint, where a K9 agent alerted to the possible presence of contraband inside of the truck. Alvarez was then ordered to drive to the secondary inspection station.

“Upon entering the secondary location Valdez Alvarez stopped and reversed the vehicle out of the secondary area and ignored (the agents) instructing him to stop the vehicle. A vehicle pursuit ensued,” the report states.

Agents then chased Alvarez and were able to catch up to him before he could make it onto the interstate. Nine migrants were then discovered inside the cab of the truck.

Alvarez was placed under arrest, and declined to provide a post-arrest statement. Alvarez did not have a CDL at the time of the arrest.
