A portion of Interstate 40 was shut down in northern Arizona on Wednesday after snow and ice caused slippery roadways.
The winter weather occurred on November 6th near the Interstate 40 and Interstate 17 junction in Flagstaff, Arizona.
According to AZ Family, the crashes started at around 5:45 a.m. and involved around eight vehicles. The pile-up included multiple semi trucks that jackknifed and blocked the east and westbound sides of the interstate.
Traffic backups stretched from central Flagstaff to the west side of the city.
Snow and a half inch of ice were reported in the Flagstaff area at the time of the crashes. No further information has been released.
