Seven NYC bridges ban empty trailers Monday

Empty tractor trailers are banned from NYC bridges on Monday due to expected high winds throughout the area until late Monday night.

The ban applies to empty tractor trailers and double trailers on bridges throughout the New York City area starting at 8 a.m. on Monday, March 11th and is expected to end at 10 p.m. Monday evening. 

According to Fox 5 NY, the ban applies to the following bridges:

  • Bronx-Whitestone Bridge
  • Cross Bay Bridge
  • Henry Hudson Bridge
  • Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge
  • Robert F. Kennedy Bridge
  • Throgs Neck Bridge
  • Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge

Pedestrian walkways along the Cross Bay Bridge and Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge are also closed. 

The entire NYC area is under a wind advisory until 11 p.m. on Monday as a weekend storm is blown out of the region. Wind gusts of up to 60 mph are predicted.
